Report: Since there are now 3,453 bowl games every season (OK, there are "only" 40), it's really hard to fill every slot because there aren't going to be enough bowl-eligible teams. That means some 5-7 teams will receive invites as long as they have strong APR scores, and one of those schools could be Texas. Well, it seems that Texas, which just fired Charlie Strong and hired Tom Herman to replace him, will not accept that bid if it's offered.

If So Ala and ULaLa both win there will only be two spots available for 5-7 teams and Texas ranks third in selection order after No Texas and Miss St. Even if one or both Sunbelt teams loses, Texas doesn't expect to retain any of Strong's staff so I am sure they are ready for this season to end and start working on next year. Northern Illinois will fill in the third spot, if available and Cal or Az St would be in line for the 4th spot.
