While welcoming its newest member, Coastal Carolina, into the league on Tuesday, Sun Belt Conference commissioner Karl Benson was noncommittal on the futures of the conference's two football-only schools. Idaho and New Mexico State are also the westernmost members in a league that's otherwise concentrated in six states -- Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas and North Carolina. Both schools joined the league as football-only members in 2014 with four-year agreements, subject to renewal after the second year. "That process will occur after the 2015 football season; there will be an evaluation, an assessment and a decision made whether to extend the football-only membership for New Mexico State and Idaho," Benson said Tuesday. "I think it's premature now to even speculate as to what that decision is." www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2015/09/sun_belt_futures_of_idaho_new.html

Karl Benson: "I have had conversations with NMSU They are well aware of the conditions and right now we need to focus (on 2015), not what ifs."
