I've heard that for a brief period cheerleading somehow wound up in the band hierarchy. Even if that's not the exact case, for many years (probably decades) they travelled to games with the band, so that's probably why T-Roy wound up in band pictures for the Palladium. Of course, sometimes the answer is not "why?" but rather "why not?" We've probably all got memories from decisions we made using the latter argument.

How many times have you heard this: New person: why do we do this or why is that the way it is? Established person: Because we have always done it that way. Sometimes in retrospect or just with advancement or change we find simple lesson: “ Well it seemed like a good idea”

Great article. I heard a rumor when I was in school that the reason the University got rid of the bearded T-Roy was because he resembled Osama Bin Ladin too much but I don't know how true that is. Yes it was after September 11th but we had also just jumped to Division One and the school could have just wanted a new look.

It could have been that they knew one day App st would be in conference with us and they did not want to be confused with Yosef Bin Ladin.

I remember riding on the bus with the cheerleaders when I was a kid. I met Muffy who was T-Roy. I thought her name was the coolest ever.

T-Roy is the pathway to great achievement. One of our local neurosurgeons spent time as T-Roy.

His greatest achievement was when T-Roy made ESPN top 10 for getting in a fight with another mascot! 🤣 Nice… I guess it would be too much to hope for that it was the Jax State mascot.

I heard USC sent a letter telling Troy that they could no longer use that version of the mascot. Again, strictly rumor back in the day
