This analysis is pretty much spot on. Just don't make the mistake assuming that this current Troy team consists mostly of SEC rejects. We do have a number of kids who chose Troy over programs like LSU, Michigan, Tennessee, South Carolina, Ole Miss, GA Tech, Kentucky etc (and tons of kids who could have gone to places such as Memphis, Tulane, East Carolina, Navy, Army etc) as well as key transfers from Auburn, Texas A&M, Iowa and several highly rated JC transfers (incl two starting WRs) who had multiple Big 12 offers. All of these transfers were relatively high on the depth charts before coming to Troy and are now key contributors. BYU is definitely the favorite but you guys better bring your A game for four quarters, just ask LSU and Nebraska.

I'm sure jonesoxygen has our men covered with some fresh O2 bottles for the game.

According to 247Sports, they out recruited Troy by some large margins in 16-18, but 19-20 shows them pretty much even. Now, that's not to say that is the sole reason they would be favored. I just think that this team is as close as the last team that NB coached here. After the transfers and graduations of some, these guys are like that. This team is well-coached, hungry and playing for each other. That's the kind of stuff those special Troy teams are made of.

The eye test certainly looks the part, but MTSU may not be a particularly good barometer. I remember thinking similar things after crushing teams like Campbell, Akron, South Alabama, and Texas State. I need to know that we aren't going to play like an NFL team versus decent and bad teams, only to get absolutely obliterated by teams like Missouri, who were only marginally better than us. It seems to me that we lived and died by our offense last year. Anyone with a pass defense would shut our whole operation down. Early indications say this year is different, but I need to see more.

I agree, but you need to consider that this was the first game of the season for us and it was the best season opener performance by a Troy team in a long time (excluding FCS opponents). This team is disciplined, focused, and hungry.

TF05, I agree. Consistency is the key to great football teams. That can only be determined over multiple outings against multiple opponents. Time will tell. I hope that TrojanBrutha is right, could be special.
