Were those comments or blame? I think these are facts, we didn't go to the line very much, that's it, not blame. The primary reason the men lost was, well, BECAUSE WE DIDNT SCORE MORE THAN THEM. Now, if one was there, saw the game and provided some insight I'm not sure that is "blaming" it was what that was. Its called "putting something into perspective". It could be that Troy never drove the paint, or tried go strong to the rack, or pack it down low for the inside/outside game or a multitude of things that kept Troy from the charity strip, don't know, wasn't there. I have to rely on Barry, et el, to keep me up to date. From what I HEARD, it seemed to be bit one sided, but "hey, who am I"? Certainly may not be the most proficient prognosticator of Troy's athletic prowess, but I AM confident that I can assess and conclude discrepancies based on the facts. There is always going to be bad officiating by refs and umpires. Maybe it's human nature but there is always comments about sunbelt refs or umpires when we lose. If a game is lost on a bad call ok but generally it doesn't change the outcome. When we win is it because the refs made favorable calls for us?? The women won in spite of poor officiating. I won't say the men lost because of it, but it certainly didn't help our cause. Officials will miss calls. Ramirez being hit in the face, her had snapping back, and a no call is just poor officiating. They did stop the game though so she could come out to get the bleeding stopped.

It was obvious that RJ Hunter was intentionaly trying to draw fouls which is fine, it is part of his game. But when you are in the act of shooting and throw your body into a stationary defender on every shot (except when he shot the 3) he should not get every call. He was also holding on defense on just about every other possession.it just seemed like the refs knows that this kid is heading to the NBA and were afraid to upset him or his daddy.
Did we lose because of the refs? No. We're they part of the reason we lost? Yes.
The refs were not very good in the girls game as well... like Hemi said there was a 10-1 foul differential with 6 minutes left in the half. So they went 14 minutes and was only called for 1 foul in a very physical game.
The refs are part of the game. Win or lose they will be part of the commentary from the fans. If we got a couple calls/no calls down the stretch we win the game. Instead they got the calls and no calls and GSU wins the game.

Most basketball officials work multiple conferences. With that comes a problem for teams playing in the Sunbelt, CUSA or any non-power conference. For a week night game you may get more experienced, better officials because the games are spread across 4 nights. But on Saturday, everybody plays, so the best, most experienced, officials will be working SEC, ACC, Big 10 games and the Sunbelt will get the leftovers. It is what it is, but generally when they suck it favors the home team.

I think I dislike RJ Hunter more than the University of South Alabama...and that is saying a lot.
